ABOUT DAN

Dan Goodman is a lifelong Kansan. He was raised in a south-central Kansas farming community and understands the challenges of working families, the importance of community service, and the value of relationships.

Dan graduated from Caldwell High School and earned his undergraduate degree in social work from Pittsburg State University. Dan moved to Olathe in 1990. Both of his daughters attended Olathe schools, and his son will be a freshman at Spring Hill High School in the fall.

He worked for the State of Kansas as an administrator in aging services for 18 years and served as the Director of Johnson County Area Agency on Aging for 13 years. Dan currently serves as the Executive Director of Kansas Advocates for Better Care, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of long-term care for older Kansans. He also worked as a football coach at Shawnee Mission North High School for eight seasons and has coached many youth football and soccer teams in the Shawnee Mission, Olathe and Spring Hill school districts.

Dan is the former President of the Kansas Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities (K4ad). He currently serves on the Johnson County Commission on Aging, which provides information, guidance, advice, and support to the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging and serves as a liaison to the Board of County Commissioners concerning the needs of older adults in Johnson County.

Dan and his wife, Jennifer, have two adult daughters, Alicia and Emily, a son Cooper, and two active Boston Terriers named Violet and Lilly.
